Your life in the School

Join our dynamic and collaborative teaching environment for your master’s study. You’ll receive excellent training for both specialist and transferable skills.

Our master’s students are actively involved in research studies as participants, organisers and collaborators.

Our School collaborates with other University departments and research centres as well as with external institutions.

Facilities for master's students

You'll have access to facilities that will aid your learning and provide you with a dedicated place to study. These include our computer lab, in-house library and testing cubicles.

As a master's student you can take advantage of our research laboratories, neuroimaging facilities and resources for observation.

Additionally, we have two in-house NHS-partnered clinics, a Centre for Autism, and the Charlie Waller Institute for evidence-based psychological treatments.

Psychology facilities

The Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN) provides access to modern technology and expertise in cognitive and computational neuroscience.

We also have facilities for experimental and observational research, including specialist laboratories. These include:

  • virtual reality
  • ageing
  • infant vision
  • infant language
  • auditory perception
  • body kinematics
  • psychophysiology.

Speech and language therapy facilities

Our purpose-built NHS-partnered Speech and Language Clinic on campus means that you can access first-class observational facilities, a well-equipped speech research laboratory and a sound recording room.

We are closely associated with the CINN and the Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism (CeLM). These provide state-of-the-art facilities including:

  • eye-tracking
  • electroencephalogram (EEG)
  • fMRI
  • transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
  • a rich multidisciplinary research environment.
