Parental Bereavement Leave

'Jack’s Law’ was introduced to ensure parents are given time and space to grieve in the aftermath of a child’s death. The Parental Bereavement Leave Policy sets out employee entitlements in the event of a child’s death or a stillbirth after 24 weeks’ of pregnancy.

While the policy sets out parents’ legal rights, it is also recognised that grief can take many forms and work through at different speeds for everyone. Support can be sought from your line manager to balance this with your working life. The Employee Assistance Programme can also be a valuable source of information and can signpost to appropriate emotional support.
