Whiteknights campus wins Green Flag Award 10 years running
15 October 2020
The ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø's Whiteknights Campus has been named one of Britain's top green spaces for the tenth year in a row.
The Green Flag Award scheme, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises the UK's best public outdoor spaces each year. Winners are judged on the overall quality of green space and the work that goes into keeping grounds in beautiful condition.
Set within 123 hectares, the scenic Whiteknights campus includes a lake, woodlands and the popular Harris Garden - all available for students, staff and the local community to enjoy.
Janis Pich, Director of Estates at the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, said: "In a year where local parks and green spaces have been more valuable than ever, I am hugely grateful to our fantastic grounds team. When many worked from home, they kept working throughout the pandemic to maintain our beautiful campus for everyone to enjoy.
"I am also proud that this is our tenth consecutive year of receiving a Green Flag Award and hope there will be many more to come."
The Green Flag Awards are usually announced in July but were delayed this year due to the pandemic.
