Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy offers a dynamic and stimulating research environment for our graduate students, with 100% of our research of international standing (Research Excellence Framework 2021, combining 4*, 3* and 2* submissions – Philosophy).
You will have the opportunity to interact and engage in debate with renowned philosophers from across a broad range of disciplines. Distinguished visiting speakers visit the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø each semester, and we regularly host major conferences, including an annual conference sponsored by our home journal Ratio. Being within easy reach of Oxford and London, you can also take advantage of the wealth of philosophy events at these two leading centres of research.
You will benefit from high-quality teaching provided by leaders in their fields, and there are a range of great opportunities for collaboration with staff and other students at regular seminars, reading groups and events organised by the student-run Philosophy Society. We are also well known for our friendly, collaborative atmosphere, in which students and staff get to know one another on an individual basis.
