Adam represented Team GB as a teenager, moving up the ranks to join the Under 23 and the Senior rowing squads. In addition to representing his country at the London 2012 Olympic Games, he won numerous World Cup medals, including four golds, a European Championship silver and a World Championship bronze.
Adam started rowing as a 14-year-old student at Windsor Boys’ School, taking to the water on a beautiful stretch of the Thames in the shadow of Windsor Castle.
He represented Great Britain at Under 16, Under 23 and Senior levels, rowing throughout his undergraduate studies in Natural Sciences at the University of Bath and master’s degrees in Environmental Engineering and Science Communication at Imperial College, London.
As a doctoral student at the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, Adam as a recipient of the prestigious John Nike Sports Scholarship. He combined rowing in the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø University Boat Club with international competitions, winning multiple World Cup medals, including golds in the lightweight singles, pairs and double sculls events.
The same year, he was selected to represent Great Britain as a reserve at the London 2012 Olympics and won a silver medal in the lightweight fours at the European Championships. He went on to win a World Championship bronze in the same class in South Korea in 2013.
Adam is also the current record holder for the British Amateur Championship of the Thames. His time on the four-mile course, which follows the same route as the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race but is rowed by single scullers, has remained unbeaten since he won the race in 2011. Since retiring from competitive rowing, he helps to run Future Hope, a rowing programme based in a Calcutta orphanage.
