Background

I have 24 years’ experience in education, for the past 19 years in Higher Education teaching and research, including at Bangor University, the Open University, Plymouth University and since 2015 the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø. I have led four Higher Education Programmes (BSc, PGCert, MSc, and EdD), an MA Education - Leadership and Management Pathway and taught at all HE levels. I have extensive experience of online learning and innovative post-experience teaching and learning. From 2020-2024 I was a member of the Senior Management Group at the Institute of Education, ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø and lead for staff and sustainability. My current substantive role is as Director of the Doctorate in Education (EdD) programme which involves leading a 35-member team of supervisors and 70 doctoral students. I have a strong track record of successful doctoral supervision and doctoral examining. I have researched and published extensively on the gender equality issues, including the underrepresentation of women in Higher Education Leadership around the World e.g. Asia, Africa and the Middle East. My research is published in leading international journals, cited in 46 countries, and in UK and international policy documents (e.g. UK Parliamentary Inquiries, World Bank, Swedish Government).
