As a primary teacher, you will work with children aged 5 to 11. This creative and gratifying career allows you to shape young minds, helping them develop socially, emotionally and intellectually.
The Institute of Education offers several routes to qualifying as a primary teacher. Whether undertaking an undergraduate or postgraduate course, you will gain the skills and knowledge to teach the different primary age ranges.
Please choose the route which best suits your situation.
We teach a variety of undergraduate courses. Our BA Primary Education courses lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and help you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to teach the different primary age ranges.
All our primary postgraduate teacher training courses lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and our Postgraduate Certificates of Education lead to a PGCE and QTS.
If you do not have A levels but work within a related early years (birth to 5 years) or educational (4 to 11 years) setting for at least 2.5 days a week and wish to develop professionally, this is the perfect course for you.
Do you want to develop your skills in the children's workforce with a vocational degree that relates directly to your work?
You must complete the Foundation Degree in Children's Development and Learning before enrolling on the BA course.
Are you already an experienced teacher?
Do you wish to gain QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or EYTS (Early Years Teacher Status)? Without additional training, the Assessment Only route could be your perfect choice.
