This scheme is aimed at supporting ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø staff to undertake PhD research on a part-time basis, as a means to support staff career development.
What support is provided by the University?
The University will provide funding to cover the cost of tuition fees for part-time PhD study at the UK/Republic of Ireland rate for six years. Successful applicants will be supported by a supervision team with expertise relevant to the research and have access to a suite of researcher development training.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Candidates:
- Must have an offer of admission onto the PhD programme for entry in September 2025.
- Must be eligible for fees at the UK/Republic of Ireland rate.
- Must not be a current PhD student at the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø.
When do awards start and what is the deadline?
Applications are invited by the deadline of 5th May 2025. Awards will start in September 2025.
How to apply
In order to apply for an award, candidates should:
- Apply online for a place of admission (and have a PhD place confirmed) at the University by the deadlines given above.
- Prepare the following documents:
- A research proposal of 700 words maximum which outlines the proposed PhD research for a non-specialist audience;
- A short statement of 300 words maximum outlining the applicant’s motivation for undertaking a PhD and explaining how the PhD will support their career development;
- A short C.V. of no more than one page.
