The School of Construction Management and Engineering at the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality research and teaching and exceptional graduate prospects.

Our reputation is something that extends beyond the UK and was a reason Hong Kong-based Ada Wong made an application to join the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying course at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø.

"The ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø has always been world-renowned for its teaching of quantity surveying with many senior executives at quantity surveying firms in Hong Kong trained at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø.

"I applied for the degree course during the time I was studying a higher diploma course in Hong Kong and, luckily, I got an offer for direct entry to Year 2 of the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying afterwards."

Joining ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø to advance her studies is something that Ada Wong did not regret. Her arrival was made easier by a warm welcome and the provision of ongoing support in our friendly, supportive and inclusive community of students and staff.

"As an international student, the all-round support from the School made me feel welcome. This started one month before heading to ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, with induction talks in Hong Kong. As well as this, a ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø student was allocated to me and they called to understand my situation and concerns."

Our world-class academics are engaged with students and can be approached for guidance throughout the entirety of the course.

"Once in ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø I received great support throughout my studies. The academics were very helpful, helping solve problems for students. The student coordinators across campus also provided career support; including CV work and interview techniques equipping students with the skills needed to step into society."

Global network

Over the last five years we have welcomed students to our community from over 70 countries. A real value is placed on the breadth of perspectives our diverse student body brings.

"Through my study at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø I was able to meet different people from various backgrounds all around the world. This helped broaden my horizons by communicating and exchanging ideas with other students. I did not get this experience while studying in Hong Kong."

The School of Construction Management and Engineering is very much a global network of talented individuals operating in different sectors, enabling you to develop connections during your studies which can last throughout your career.

Applying learning to practice

Our students have access to facilities and digital technologies that are commonplace in practice, preparing students for future construction roles.

“I feel so lucky that we had a chance to use a software called REVIT for my final year project. Learning this software was challenging, but it has helped with my career in Hong Kong.

"The skills gained by using REVIT assist me in taking measurements for new-build projects and have helped me to present building briefs."

Highly recommended

Having graduated from the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø in 2017, Ada Wong is now back in Hong Kong working in the construction sector,  and strongly endorses the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø experience.

“The ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø has created a great atmosphere for both home and international students to study by providing all-round support and a healthy and interactive study environment. I highly recommend ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø as a place to study, especially those wanting a career in quantity surveying.”
