Areas of interest

As Assoc. Prof in Media and Sculpture, I have for many years been involved with studio-led artistic teaching as an artist practitioner whilst undertaking longitudinal materials and technological investigations as an artistic researcher. In particular, my research-led teaching builds on my experience of identity, between sculpture and broader notions of personal and cultural memory, in relation to museums, enthusiasts collections, civic communities and increasingly, as a result of shared environmental crises.

In 2014, I founded ArtLab.  is concerned with how we make the most of our young people’s futures by bringing a wide range of children from across different social backgrounds into contact with cutting edge art and technology projects. Projects are undertaken with students on Undergraduate courses, including Joint Honours. ArtLab has received significant internal funding for widening participation, Impact Awards (2022) and led Fine Art students engagement with Tate Moderns Tate Exchange Programme

Postgraduate supervision

I welcome research proposals on practice-based research projects in the areas of practice-based applicants whose research is in the field of sculpture, material studies and fine art. I have received teaching awards and can advise on pedagogic approaches to fine art education based on a long track record.
