The annual Edith Morley Seminar: Penny Endersby

, Chief Executive of the Met Office, will deliver the SMPCS (The School of Mathematical, Physical, and Computational Sciences) Annual Edith Morley Seminar.

A renowned global leader in meteorology, Professor Endersby has made significant life-saving contributions to climate and weather science. Her remarkable career has earned her numerous honours, including the 2021 Society Medal from the British Computer Society, an Honorary Fellowship from the Institute of Physics in 2021, and a CBE in 2024.

First lady

In 2018, she was appointed the first female Chief Executive of the . She has also been instrumental in the field's growth, serving as a visiting professor at Southampton University and an honorary professor at the University of Exeter.

University partners

In 2023, she was appointed President of the , further strengthening ties with the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø as ECMWF prepares to relocate its headquarters to the University's Whiteknights campus.

Honorary doctorate

Professor Penny Endersby received  an honorary doctorate from the University in 2024. This award celebrates her remarkable achievements and ongoing collaboration with the University in advancing weather and climate science.
