Chemistry, Food and Nutritional Sciences, and Pharmacy are disciplines naturally inclined towards industry and many of our graduates will be employed in industry.

In consequence, the School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy has fostered links with industry, from the big multinational companies to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and is keen to increase these links. Our current links with industry include contracts, grants and studentships.

As a School, we attract research income in excess of £5million per year, much of which comes from enterprise activities. We have studentships fully paid by industry and we have been very successful in attracting part sponsorship for studentships as well as those with Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) on the CASE scheme.

Our staff also provide expert advice as consultants to industry.

Internally, staff have been successful in obtaining support from the Higher Education Innovation Fund.

We are keen to expand links with industry using these schemes. We are also keen to set up Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP).
