Regulatory Reform Order

Your Responsibility

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) came into effect in October 2006 and replaced over 70 pieces of fire safety law. It applies to virtually all non-domestic premises and covers nearly every type of building, structure and open space.

The FSO places a duty on the responsible person to undertake a suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment which identifies the general fire precautions that need to be taken to ensure the safety of relevant people. Under the majority of circumstances, the significant findings of the risk assessment must be recorded.
