Enhance your understanding of education and teaching with our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Reflective Practice) top-up course.
Offered by the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø’s Institute of Education, this programme is designed for both primary and secondary school teachers who already hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or are working towards the qualification.
You’ll explore how evidence-based research can support and inform future practice through a mix of live online group tutorials, individual tutorials and pre-recorded material.
You will complete two assignments over the course of your studies. One addresses a whole-school issue with a focus on effective behaviour management for learning, the use of oracy in the classroom, and creating an inclusive classroom environment. The other will involve an action research project designed to develop an aspect of your classroom practice. Both assignments will give you credits that can be used towards a master’s in Education.
At the Institute of Education, teaching is tailored to suit your individual needs. The structure of our postgraduate courses gives you the opportunity to create your own tailor-made course, shaping our programme to suit your learning requirements and personal career aspirations.
Our teaching environment
Learn from internationally or nationally renowned experts and tutors, whose research regularly has a direct impact on school curricula and learning techniques — both in the UK and abroad. As experts in their fields, their research also directly informs the focus and content of your course. 98% of our research is of international standing (REF 2021, combining 4*, 3* and 2* submissions – Education).
Your learning experience will be interactive, experiential and innovative. Taught content is delivered through group tutorials, face to face or online as appropriate, resources are also shared via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). There are three taught sessions per assignment which are recorded and shared with students on the VLE. You are encouraged to make use of literature that is available online through the University library. You’ll receive individual tutorials and written feedback on assignments to prepare you for final assessments.
