Green Flag Award #14 for Whiteknights campus
19 July 2024
Whiteknights campus has been recognised with a Green Flag Award for the fourteenth year in a row, marking it out yet again as one of the UK’s best outdoor public spaces.
The award is testament to the outstanding job done by our Estates Gardens and Grounds Team, since it is judged on the overall quality of green space and the work that goes into maintaining it.
The Green Flag Award scheme rewards well-managed parks and green spaces with the aim of encouraging community access to quality outdoor spaces.
As well as our grounds staff, this award also recognises the work of volunteers such as the , who help keep this jewel in the Whiteknights greenspace crown looking fantastic.
Andrew Casselden, Director of Estates, said: “Congratulations to our fantastic Grounds team on another Green Flag Award. We are all extremely proud of our green campuses, and the fact that we can enjoy our parkland setting is thanks to the hard work of colleagues.”
Whiteknights campus features trees, meadows and a lake spread over 110 acres. It was originally owned by the Marquess of Blandford more than 200 years ago, and was purchased by the University in 1947.
