Art, Geography and Psychology rise in Sunday Times rankings

Art and Design, Archaeology and Forensic Science, and Building were the top performing subject areas for the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø in .
Rising to joint 24 in the UK overall, ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø was named Sustainable University of the Year 2025 by the Sunday Times, with several subject areas also appearing high in individual subject rankings.
Among the subject areas ranked among the top 10 in the country were:
- Art & Design: ranked 9 out of 82 UK institutions
- Archaeology & Forensic Sciences: 7 out of 48
- Building: 5 out of 31
- Land and Property Management: 3 out of 13
- Animal Science: 6 out of 27
- Bioengineering & Biomedical engineering: 6 out of 23
Professor Peter Miskell, ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience, said: “We are proud to be the Sustainable University of the Year, and are focused on giving students the best education and experience possible as they work towards their degrees.
“From Archaeology to Zoology, across the arts, humanities, sciences and business, we are responding to the needs of today’s students and tomorrow’s employers through our engaging, rigorous and relevant degree programmes.”
Other subject areas in which ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø was ranked in the top 25% in the UK include Psychology (ranked 22 out of 115 universities), Business, Management & Marketing (24 out of 118), and Geography and Environmental Science (ranked 18 out of 70).
Subject areas that rose up the league table compared to the previous year’s rankings include English, Politics, Biological Sciences, Law, Economics, Architecture, and Linguistics.
