Overview
Module aims and purpose
This module provides students with general and specific placement and employability related skills. It aims to develop students' placement awareness, and introductory employment and placement application readiness (CV writing, peer support, application forms, career advice).Â
Module learning outcomes
By the end of the module, it is expected that students will be able to:
- Show awareness of the range of placement options available to them
- Understand the key steps involved in securing a placement, including the support available to them
- Begin to develop their CV writing and other application skills
Module content
Topics will typically include:Â
- Placement application journey and RED enrolmentÂ
- Boosting your CVÂ
- What Placement can I do?Â
- Gaining relevant work experience Part 1Â
- Gaining relevant work experience Part 2 and advice from placement returnersÂ
- CV workshop in a computer labÂ
- Preparing for Placement search and applications, with advice from second year studentÂ
Structure
Teaching and learning methods
Teaching is based around interactive seminar sessions. Students are also encouraged to book a one-to-one meeting with the Placement Co-ordinator.Â
Study hours
At least 6 hours of scheduled teaching and learning activities will be delivered in person, with the remaining hours for scheduled and self-scheduled teaching and learning activities delivered either in person or online. You will receive further details about how these hours will be delivered before the start of the module.
