Summary module description:
This module covers the evidence-based theory of a number and range ofÌý Anxiety disorders and describes the evidence-based interventions required to treat clients.
Aims:
- To train students to understand the evidence-based theory for a range of AnxietyÌý disorders
- To teach students the theoretical basis for the treatment of clients with Anxiety disorders in an evidence-based way
Assessable learning outcomes:
Students will be able to demonstrate the ability:
- To understand evidence-based psychological theories and therapies.Ìý
- To critically evaluate evidence-based psychological theories and treatment for anxiety disorders
Additional outcomes:
Outline content:
- Workshops equating to five full days on evidence-based psychological theory and treatments delivered by recognised national and international experts in the field. These workshops will include topics on:
- Behavioural Experiments
- PTSD
- Panic disorder
- Social anxiety
- OCD
- Discussion groups and/or role-plays within the workshops to discuss psychological theory and treatm ent
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
- Workshops / small group work
- Audio and video recording
- Role-play exercises and discussion
- All teaching will take place in a group setting.Ìý

The assessment for this module is a 2500 word essay based on the workshops associated with this module. The essay will include an assessment of the following:Ìý
- Knowledge of theoryÌý
- Knowledge of the theory informed treatment
- Critical reflection on the use of these theories and treatment (N.B. it is their ability to critically reflect rather than implement the theory and treatment that is being assessed).Ìý
