Note that where data supports published research findings, use of this service may not be advised. In accordance with the University’s Research Data Management Policy, data supporting published research must wherever possible be preserved and made accessible to others by deposit in a suitable data repository. The University provides a Research Data Archive which may be used for this purpose where it is suitable; other data repositories may also be used where appropriate.

If data supports published research, but deposit in a repository is not practicable or affordable because of the scale or nature of the data, it is acceptable to use the offline archive. In such a case, you should create a public metadata record in the Research Data Archive describing the dataset and the means by which access to it can be requested, so that it can be cited from any related publications. For further information, refer to University guidance on archiving high-volume data.
