Winners of the 2019 Distinguished Volunteer Award
From 2017-2019 the Distinguished Volunteer Award was presented annually at our House of Lords Reception to alumni and supporters who made a significant contribution to the University or to a specific field through volunteering.
We were delighted to present the below alumni with Distinguished Volunteer Awards.
2019
Our 2019 winners were Paul Cable for his contribution to the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Real Estate Foundation (RREF) and his support of real estate students for over a decade, Saleh Hussain for his leadership of the Middle East Chapter for the Henley Business School, Yuka Ashitagawa for her work on CIRCL Japan, and Monica Jobson, a member of the local community, for her longstanding service as a Harris Garden volunteer.
2018
Our 2018 winners were local community members Ron and Jan Butler for their long service to help preserve archival materials at the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL), Associate Professor Joe Doak for his contribution to the Pathways to Property initiative, Judith Mark for her work focusing on keeping alumni in the Caribbean connected with the Business School and her activity with the Henley International Alumni Board, and Dato’ Kuak Fong YAP for his leadership of the Henley Alumni Association in Malaysia.
2017
In 2017 six winners were recognised; Paul Curtis for his work with the Boat Club, Dorothy Dix both for her charity work with Creating Better Futures and her volunteering at the University, Alan Froggatt who helped establish the Pathways to Property scheme and has been a committed supporter since the scheme’s inception. Three alumni, Eugene Jin Zhu, Bobby Yee, and David Kean Foo Hooi won awards for their outstanding work with our international alumni associations. A special commendation was also awarded to the team behind the launch of the Universal Voices Choir, Dr Rebecca Berkley, Katie Whaley, Emily Freeman, Lauren Rose, Charlotte Lynch, Tom White, and Ben Whalley.
From 2023, we have awarded Alumni and Supporter Volunteer of the Year Awards at the Celebration of Volunteering.
