Biography
Keith Swanson is Director of Quality Support and Development, leading the Centre for Quality Support and Development (CQSD) which has responsibilities for teaching and learning policy, quality assurance, academic development and enhancement, technology enhanced learning (TEL), and the University’s Open Online Courses (OOCs).
Having studied at the University of York and the University of Cambridge, Keith worked at the University of Bristol and the University of Manchester before joining the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø in 1994. At ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, he served in one of the Faculty Offices and then as University Examinations Officer; in the latter capacity he played a leading role in the comprehensive revision of the University’s assessment policies and classification methods, and was responsible for the implementation of automated systems to support the assessment process. In 2008, he became Director of Quality Support, with responsibility for quality assurance and policy, examinations and graduation. He was a member of the SITS Executive User Group (2008-2014), contributing, in particular, to the enhancement of the SITS system’s examination-related functionality. Since 2012, Keith has led the Centre for Quality Support and Development, which provides leadership, guidance and support for all aspects of teaching and learning enhancement, professional academic development, TEL, and quality assurance. By drawing together these areas of activity, CQSD provides integrated support for the teaching and learning community to ensure an excellent academic experience for our students.
Keith is a member of the Executive Committee of the Quality Strategy Network, a sector-wide group which informs national agendas on quality in teaching and learning and supports senior practitioners in the development of institutional policies and practice.
